Recommended Excursions for Rediscover the World clients staying in Tangier:

(Clients staying in Tangier can pre-book most of the trips below or they can be arranged locally - prices on request)

Historical visit of Tangier (half day)

A fascinating introductory tour to give you an insight into the way of life in Tangier and the surrounding countryside. The highlight of the tour being a guided walk through the narrow cobbled streets of the Kasbah, down to the Medina, the very heart of Tangier with its bustle and typical atmosphere. In addition you will travel out of town along the coast road to Cape Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.

Fez, Meknes and Volubilis (two day)

An overnight stay is included in this tour to allow a more relaxed pace of sightseeing. During the visit youwill see the magnificent Roman ruins at Volubilis before arriving at the Imperial City of Meknes. Ornate city gates, palaces, mosques and monuments characterise the most beauftiful of Moroccan cities. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be in Fez, allowing maximum time on the second day for a full guided tour of the oldest and most labyrinthine medina of them all.

Chefchaoen Tour (full day)

High in the Rif Mountains to the south of Tangier lies Chefchaoen, a village that perches 2000 ft above sea level between two peaks that gave rise to its name. There is an unspoilt beauty here and it is an ideal place to buy pottery and woollen handicrafts. Friendly locals and stunning views through the hills make this a trip to remember.

Asilah and Souk el Had (full day)

This trip is designed for those who wish to see more of the local customs and people of this part of Morocco. A picturesque drive takes you to the Souk el Had (literally - Sunday Market). This is the meeting place for local craftsmen to sell and exchange their wares. Next stop is Asilah, a small fishing village on the Atlantic coast, famed for its sea food. The final stop is Zeli, situated on the site of an ancient Phoenecian trading post.

Talambote (full day)

Talambote is a former Spanish colonial village situated in the very heart of the Rif Mountains. During the trek experienced guides will lead you on a journey through the natural beauty and majesty of Morocco. The scenery is undeniably spectacular with natural bridges where mountains meet and pools of crystal clear mountain water. You may even catch a glimpse of the wild mountain apes of the area.

Marrakech Express (two days)

A fascinating journey by train to the 'Pearl of Morocco', a city brimming with cultural diversity, situated below the usually snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas Mountains. Taking the overnight train from Tangier and staying in 3* accommodation in Marrakech for one night allows you the fullest amount of time to see all the sights. Highlights include the Menara and Marjorelle gardens, the Koutoubia Mosque and the Saadian Tombs. No visit will be complete though with out time spent absorbing the atmosphere of the souks and the centre point of the city the Djemma el Fna - a square (open space really) filled with story-tellers, jugglers, acrobats, fire-eaters and all manner of performers and hawkers who then make way for the numerous eating stalls that set up for the evening. This is a trip you cannot afford to miss.

Camel Trek (half day)

This fun-packed day starts with a trip down to the famous caves of Hercules followed by lunch overlooking the sea at Le Mirage. Then comes your chance to take a ride on a 'ship of the desert'. The trek takes you along the beach and through the surf and is highly recommended as an excellent day out.

Chez Ali  (Fantasia) –  An excellent finale to your stay in Tangier, a traditional meal in a fabulous folklore setting. You are firstly entertained at your table by troops of artists from all over North Africa then, after your meal, the show really begins. Acrobatic horse riding, a flying carpet and the fantasia - you will not want to miss out.
