About Rhein Pension & Wine Cellars

The Rhein Azuga Cellar nestles in the majestic Bucegi mountains of Prahova County and was built in 1892, supplying the Romanian Royal Court between the world wars. Today they supply The House of His Majesty King Michael the First with their famous sparkling wine - Rhein Extra. The cellar is belived to be the oldest location in Romania where sparkling wine has continuously been made using the traditional method.

The Pensiunea (Guest House) Rhein & Wine Cellars offer sixteen rooms all equipped with cable TV, wifi, a private bathroom fitted with a shower, a hairdryer and free toiletries. Some rooms enjoy mountain views.

Breakfast is offered in the restaurant which also serves locally-produced wine and traditional Romanian cuisine.

Sparkling wine produced at Rhein Azuga can be bought from the shop at the property. Guests can visit the wine cellars to learn about the traditional art of production by the 19th century techniques in use. The cellars are actually situated above ground but built with double walls to keep them cool. There is also a small museum showing the evolution of wine production in Azuga.

Free private parking is available on site; the guest house is within a 15-minute walk of the Sorica ski slope.
