The beautiful Golf du Soleil was designed in the middle of an eucalyptus forest and has become an institution in Agadir, currently enjoying a boom in golf holidays due to many fantastic new hotels along its long sandy beach and a stable climate, which sees average temperatures for the year fluctuate between 25ºC and 30ºC and almost guaranteed sunshine.
Red / Yellow / Blue Courses
The complex at Golf du Soleil consists of three distinct courses: the Red and Yellow loops have nine holes, while the Blue Course is a full championship layout. Specifically, the Yellow course offers nine holes of 3025 metres; the Blue course within the forest includes 18 holes of 5539 metres and the Red course contains 9 holes, although it is usually reserved for professional players.
The whole club covers almost 90 hectares including rolling hills, lakes, bridges, waterfalls, bunkers, fairways and shady groves. All three courses have undulating fairways lined with a mix of eucalyptus, tamarisk and mimosa giving a very tropical feel whilst greens can be treacherous and sloping; the whole course being fanned by the cooling Atlantic breeze.
After the game, the clubhouse welcomes you in one of its Moorish salons, for a few moments rest and recuperation. With its relaxed ambiance and panoramic terrace you may wish to stay and dine at the acclaimed restaurant.
Designer – Cabell B Robinson 27 holes (3x9 holes) – 2817m / 2943m / 2917m – par 36 Opened – 1991
Golf Les Dunes is located on the fringes of Agadir's Club Med Resort, and is ranked among the finest courses in North Africa. This popular 27 hole course extends over beautiful hilly terrain and is framed by eucalyptus and palm trees and punctuated by seven large lakes which make the Golf Les Dunes a great test of golf. Played from the championship tees, it has enough teeth to challenge even the most talented golfers, yet the separate sets of tees ensure that the layout is accessible for players of all standards.
On a beautiful plot of over 100 hectares, the Golf Les Dunes, Agadir, is one of the destinations most sought after by golfers, both amateurs and professionals. Designed with great care by Cabell B. Robinson, a disciple of Robert Trent Jones, this course offers an exceptional combination of passion and fun by offering three 9-hole courses. The club has a huge driving range in front of the club house, a putting green, a pitching green with bunkers and a practice area.
Red / Yellow / Blue Courses
Specifically, the Blue course, with tree-lined [sometimes quite narrow] fairways, is an ideal introduction to the game, although some holes are not as easy as they first look. Slow play is to be avoided, of course, but do enjoy the magnificent views as you go around.
The Yellow route includes beautiful lakes and requires a higher level of skill. Awe-inspiring views of the Anti Atlas and River Souss abound but don’t get too distracted from the challenge in front of you, take the 9th, for example, a long par 5 with a double dog-leg around the lake to a narrow green guarded by sand and depressions – guaranteed to damage your score card.
The Red course is very technical with a large water hazard dominating the opening holes in particular; bring your “A” game ! Many of the holes are long requiring a good straight drive to avoid a walk in the woods.
