Anti Atlas Mountains (Tafraoute, Kerdous, Tata)

The Anti Atlas Mountains are a little off the beaten track, although becoming popular with climbers in recent years. You can visit the area on a day trip out of Taroudant, Agadir or Tiznit/Massa but we recommend a more leisurely visit and possibly staying overnight at one of the hotels we have chosen in the mountains. There is some good walking, top quality climbing and simple peace and quiet for all.

Tafraoute

A perfectly positioned village retreat situated in the dramatic Anti Atlas Mountains and surrounded by almond blossom in spring. Just two hours drive south of Agadir and Taroudant.

A must if you wish to visit the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Tata

An outpost of the far side of the Anti Atlas Mountains. The road climbs up through rocky canyons to 2000m and out here doesn't go much further than Tata so you will be safely 'away from it all'. Rose-coloured walls and arcaded streets and surrounded by the beautiful palms made fertile by the waters off the mountains.

To reach Tata you can travel via Tiznit and Bou-Izakarn and then along the good N12 which passes Akka en route and ends at Foum Zguid or from Taroudant on the smaller road over the Anti Atlas via Igherm. Tata is a useful stop on any fly-drive holiday of the south although it is the journey and the scenery that we recommend, most towns in this part of Morocco are not "tourist" destinations, although souk days are always more interesting.
