Delightful Lapland Short Break - 5 Days - 2008

A magical five day trip to Lapland resort of Salla.

Return flights to Rovaniemi, accommodation on full board, Search for Father Christmas, individual family meeting with Santa, Santa's elves, gift allowance for children, reindeer and husky dog sleigh rides, snowmobile ride, snow games, children's entertainment. Transfers, thermal overalls AND boots are also included as well as souvenir licences, CD and DVD.

Salla
A small and pretty ski resort in splendid isolation it is here that you find a series of quality cabins and a small hotel.

Located some 2 hours from Rovaniemi the setting is peaceful and tranquil whilst the resort offers the creature comforts that one might expect. Here you find cross country tracts on the doorstep and a beautiful slalom ski slope running into the very centre of activities so it is little wonder that Santa has chosen this area to have one of his many homes in Lapland.

Itinerary:

Day One:

The day to go and meet with Santa Claus has arrived! Packing completed, it's off to the airport to begin your adventure. Following your arrival in this winter wonderland, it's off to Salla your home for 4 nights in this Arctic wilderness. Accommodation in hotel rooms or cabins according to your wishes with welcome dinner provided.

Day Two:

Your first experience of a Lappish Morning. At 09.00 it is still very dark outside but the reflection from the snow illuminates the way. After a fortifying Finnish breakfast you learn the basics of Arctic transportation. The husky sleigh ride is fast; the reindeer rides more gentle and the snowmobiling is pure enchantment. Will you spot Tricky Dicky in his quest to mislead you in your search? Lunch is provided at an outside venue with dinner at your hotel restaurant.

Day Three:

Enjoy participating in either cross country or slalom skiing today. All equipment will be provided. Lunch and dinner will be taken at the hotel. Ski tuition is not included. Other optional excursions (at additional cost) by skidoo, reindeers and huskies are available locally.

Day Four:

Skidoos, reindeer and huskies will once again be used as your search continues. Keep your eyes peeled for pretty bows on the trees which may mean that Snowy Bowy is around! Santa Claus is known never to disappoint children, who take the time and trouble to come to his homeland to visit him, and we can be assured to meet him sometime during today for that very special encounter. Lunch as usual will be taken at an outside location and this evening enjoy a farewell dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Day Five:

A choice of activities is offered for the morning including downhill skiing, cross country skiing, ice fishing and other snow based activities. Lunch will be taken in the hotel and an opportunity provided to buy some traditional souvenirs in Rovaniemi before joining your return flight to the United Kingdom.

ACCOMMODATION in SALLA:

Hotel or cabins

......... Salla has a fine choice of accommodations consisting of cabins and a hotel. Hotel rooms are well equipped with private shower and WC. Naturally there is the convenience of coming directly from your hotel room to the restaurant without having to change into and out of your thermal clothing as the rooms and restaurant are in the same building. New for 2007 is a small spa. This provides a fantastic view through panorama windows to the skiing area. Consisting of four pools there are also saunas available (small local charge applies). Cabins are ideal for families as they sleep up to 4 persons (some sleep up to 6). Each is equipped with a private shower and wc, sauna and a log fire (all have central heating as well!) There is a small kitchen area and each has a warm air clothes drier. Cabins do vary in style in this resort and pre-selection is not possible.
