Norway is the longest country in Europe, measuring almost 1,800 miles from top (excluding Svalbard) to toe. Norway's geography means that sailing and sea-faring is woven into its history, starting with the original explorers - the Vikings. Today you can take to the seas or fjords in style aboard a Hurtigruten cruise - this is the perfect laid-back way to take in all that fantastic scenery.
Beautiful scenery, unbelievably friendly people, remote islands and vibrant cities, Norway has much to offer to the first time or return visitor. Norway's beauty extends from its dramatic fjords in the west, to the fertile landscape of the east, up to enchanting northern Norway with the Lofoten Islands and their proud fishing heritage, down to the south, popular with sailors. You'll discover neat little villages, open countryside vibrant with heather, summer grass and cloudberries, steep sided mountains & gushing waterfalls. Norway is as enthralling in the summer midnight sun as it is in winter when occasionally the Northern Lights dance across the sky.
The Norwegian national anthem is a song of praise to Norway and its varied scenery and Norwegians sing of how much they love their country - we are not surprised.
We have personally selected small hotels in the Lofoten Islands and other locations in Norway's Arctic north as well as a few in the small and friendly capital, Oslo which is likely to be a gateway into the country. Alternative gateways include Bergen and Trondheim where we can also offer accommodation and then internal flights or rail tickets to your ultimate destination. Many of the places we offer as part of a tailor made holiday or fly-drive are still relatively undeveloped providing fabulous 'off the beaten track' adventures. If, however, you only have a few days at your disposal, Norway is close enough from the UK for a short break & Oslo is ideal for a city break.
The directors of Rediscover the World have travelled extensively over many years in this region, in fact our connection with the country goes back to 1981. This experience, together with the knowledge gained from frequent visits and close ties with the Lofoten Islands, enables us to provide you with the most up-to-date and fullest possible assistance in planning your ideal holiday - we can put together any tailor-made itinerary for you to suit most budgets. We are fully bonded (ATOL & TTA) and provide full financial security and assistance should any part of your holiday not happen entirely to plan. If you were to assemble your holiday yourself you may not have this sort of protection nor would you be able to benefit from many of our special rates.
Where to visit
Tromso is a lively city, well placed for exploring the mainland and combining with the Lofoten Islands.
Things to do
A self-drive holiday to northern Norway including Tromso, a short (but fabulous!) cruise & the stunning Lofoten Islands.
Norway's capital, beautiful Bergen by train and cruise to the Lofoten Islands.
Spend your nights in typical Lofoten accommodation: 'Rorbuer', traditional fishermen's cabins equipped with a kitchen and bathroom.

"We are home from our memorable trip to Norway and would like to thank you so very much for your brilliant organisational skills. Everything went really smoothly and we appreciate the detailed touches, like accommodation with easy access to train/boat and plane connections, etc. We particularly enjoyed our stay in Tromso and our time in Oslo. We would like to reiterate how much we appreciated the thought and attention to detail which Dawn invested in our holiday bookings. Thank you very much."
