Encounter short break to Lapland - 2008
The Encounter short break takes you deep inside the Arctic Circle, to Hetta in the far north of Finnish Lapland. This is real Lapland and a perfect base from which to go in search of the real Father Christmas. This sleepy Lappish village with its pristine snow clad wilderness is the perfect place forthe magic to begin...
Some of the locals have reported seeing Santa's sleigh in this area, so each family will head into the woods in search of his secret log cabin. When you find Santa's cabin, it will be with some excitement, that you push open the door to discover Father Christmas himself, who is sure to have time to talk to each of the children individually.
A one and a half hour snowmobile safari will be an experience to remember. Adults will have the chance to drive their own; kids will be pulled in a sleigh.
Lapland's most traditional form of transport is the reindeer sleigh ride and you can enjoy a leisurely ride through the snow clad forest.
You will also have the memorable experience of a five kilometre husky ride through the snow with the eager barking of the dogs as they arrive at the husky farm!
There's also plenty of time to play in the snow and there will be tobogganing, kick-sledging, tandem skiing and children's snowmobiles.
There is a festive atmosphere for the gala dinner on the last evening of your stay. You will be served with a special three-course meal.

The wooden cabins are distinctively painted grey. Most contain elegant log interiors, lounge sitting areas with a small fireplace, and a kitchenette. The larger cabins sleep six: three single beds on an upper floor, two in a ground floor twin room, and there’s space for an extra bed in the living room. The smaller cabins have just one floor and sleep up to four: two in a twin room and two other beds in the main part of the cabin.
