The hotel is set back from the main road about 15 minutes from the airport and backs onto the forest at the point where it reaches the village of Hetta. Twin rooms sleep two with a third on an extra bed. Family rooms vary in size but sleep between four and six. Each family room has a gallery floor and contains four beds with the possibility of simple extra beds being added for children. All rooms are cosy and unpretentious. The décor gives a fresh feel, by virtue of the pine interiors of most rooms. All rooms contain a TV and are en suite.

Hetan Lomakyla

An attractive collection of cabins, the small Lomakyla complex, has a handful of cabins in a pleasant location by the side of a river (frozen and snow-covered at this time of year, of course). Meals are taken at a nearby hotel - transfers will be by coach.

The wooden cabins are distinctively painted grey. Most contain elegant log interiors, lounge sitting areas with a small fireplace, and a kitchenette. The larger cabins sleep six: three single beds on an upper floor, two in a ground floor twin room, and there’s space for an extra bed in the living room. The smaller cabins have just one floor and sleep up to four: two in a twin room and two other beds in the main part of the cabin.

There are also twin rooms and simple cottages, which contain two single beds and can take a third extra bed. These rooms are simply furnished.

All 4 cabins and 8 cottages have: Kitchenette, lounge with fireplace, sauna, shower and WC.

Davvi Hotel & Cabins

For those looking for a relaxing stay in an attractive hotel, the Davvi hotel comes highly recommended. Occupying a privileged position on a quiet secluded hillside with the winter wilderness on its doorstep, the hotel is just on the Finnish side of the border with Sweden, within walking distance (approx. 1.5km) of the Swedish village of Karesuando. The hotel is well run by friendly, conscientious staff, who do their utmost to ensure that you enjoy your stay to the full. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious.

The hotel rooms are situated on two floors in a wing that extends from the main building. Rooms are simply furnished and comfortable. Twin rooms sleep two plus one on an extra bed. Family rooms sleep up to five, with two single beds, a large sofa bed for up to two children and a camp bed available for a fifth child. All rooms are en suite, though a few of the bathrooms are very small, and some have been recently refurbished.

The cabins are simple but cosy. All are en suite and have tea and coffee making facilities. Most cabins can sleep up to four with two single beds plus a sofa bed for up to two children in a large open plan area. There are just two larger cabins that can sleep five or six. These have two bedrooms each containing two single beds and a sofa bed in the living area that can take one or two children. All cabins are in the grounds of the hotel, just yards from the main building, where meals are taken. Many families enjoy exploring the snow-covered surroundings of the secluded hillside in their free time.

The beautiful restaurant is the centrepiece of the hotel and affords spectacular panoramic views across the snow-covered hillside over to the attractive village on the Swedish side of the border. The design of the restaurant is inspired by the tent building traditions of the nomadic Lappish people with its roughly circular shape and ceiling beams each pointing towards a centre point.

Facilities include: Bar, bar lounge, Sami lounge, reception, restaurant, sauna, spacious grounds.
