About Casa da Capelinha

Ponta Delgada is quiet and tranquil and is best explored on foot via the many ancient pathways that wind through the little vineyards. Casa de Capelinha is located in the lowest part of Ponta Delgada, near the church and the public swimming pool. The hotel gets its name from the 16th century Chapel of Reis Magos which can be found on the property. This chapel is worth visiting, not only for its historical value but also for its magnificent, restored paintings.

Accommodation: this family-friendly establishment has two houses (one of these is a restored manor house; the other was recently built) where you will find one studio and eleven apartments. All are comfortably furnished with modern bathrooms (bathtubs in the apartments, shower in the studio), and open-plan kitchens with a fridge, a hob, a microwave oven and coffee machine. There is a small on-site restaurant which offers evening meals by prior arrangement. There are also a number of small shops in the village that cater for basic self-catering needs.

Reviews

"The family run Casa da Capelinha had most spacious and comfortable accommodation but suffered from cold being out of the sun for much of the day. Some in room heating would be desirable. The family were most helpful and the home prepared evening meals genuine & tasty. It would be good to support them as a north coast location as long as lack of breakfast is not critical."

"Brilliant holiday [to Madeira] - we loved the places you suggested we stay and enjoyed exploring the island, especially walking in the mountains. The view from the hotel in Curral das Freiras is stunning and we had some good walks from the village."
