The Palais Jamai has a similar reputation to La Mamounia (Marrakech) and it has a similarly excellent location just above the Medina walls. Originally a 19th Century palace of the Grand Vizir to the Sultan of Morocco the hotel was the result of a 1930's conversion which, also like La Mamounia, has undergone a recent refurbishment to embellish its former grandeur. Approaching the hotel from the Medina side you are suddenly confronted by the high mediaeval walls and the arched entrance to the Palais Jamai. Local Moroccan artists' work is displayed all around the hotel which provides a warm and charming atmosphere.
