Hotel Agios Nikitas
Agios Nikitas has grown from a fishing village to a resort area thanks to the gorgeous beaches nearby. The beach at Agios Nikitas itself is in front of the village and has some excellent tavernas; to the north of Agios Nikitas is Pevkoulia beach, an impressive large sandy beach, one of the best on the island with invitingly turquoise waters. It is extremely popular in July and August so get there early!
A few kilometres further on you will arrive at the outstanding beach of Kathisma. This is very popular with the younger tourists and often gets very busy. The sunsets here are remarkable. One thing to bear in mind is that the sea on the west coast can sometimes be rougher than the more sheltered east coast – worth bearing in mind if you are travelling with children or are not a confident swimmer. One of the most popular boat trips is to Porto Katsiki in the south west, a picture postcard beach below towering white cliffs. It is also possible to dive here.
