Ponta do Sol's breathtaking scenery, with the green of the mountains contrasting with the crystal blue of the Atlantic, provides a excellent base which will appeal to nature lovers. This area is known for its sunny climate, probably why it is the main banana growing area on the island.
There is an interesting 18th century Baroque church here, Nossa Senhora Da Luz, which has a painted wooden ceiling depicting Biblical scenes. It is quite pleasant to stroll along the palm-tree lined seafront, perhaps stopping for a coffee at one of the watering holes! |
