Dating from the 18th Century and located in the centre of town, on a pedestrianised side street, this riad is a traditional and peaceful haven. A smaller property than many but offering a similar style and standard of accommodation. 300m to the beach. The heart of the pedestrianised Old City is the location of the eighteenth century RIAD SOUIRI – now luxuriously renovated in Moorish style as the Maison du Sud.

A very homely feel though as it is an intimate riad with comfortable puiblic lounge and central courtyard. Ideal accommodation for your stay in Essaouira, the Maison du Sud is a traditional Moroccan guest house housed in an 18th century riad, and conveniently located in the heart of the lively medina (Old Town). The riad, nicely renovated, features a shaded central courtyard with a fountain and colourful azulejos tiles. In the afternoon, comfortably sitting in a deckchair, you will enjoy the traditional mint tea on the large rooftop terrace, which boasts wonderful views of the sea and Essaouira.

Our opinion - friendly, colourful and well looked after riad, still good quality for its price range.
