Marrakech
Moroccan Cookery Short Break
Marrakech, nestled on a large plain at the foot of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains and surrounded by its original fortified city wall entices you into its midst, allow it to absorb into your soul, even for just a few days and we are sure that, like us, it will become one of your favourite places. Marrakech has much to offer the visitor - the historic and labyrinthine Medina, the majesty of the Palaces, the tranquility of its many gardens and the sophistication of its more modern boulevards and cafes. Today, Marrakech has become a thriving metropolis with chic night spots, top restaurants and a very modern atmosphere in places. All of which emphasises the immense historical context of the Medina and its focal point, the Djemma el Fna. |

| What's included in your Moroccan Cookery break? | ||||||
Our 'Moroccan Cookery' package is ideal for those of you who wish to learn how to prepare your own Moroccan feast. Classes are about immersing yourself in the aromas, tastes and language of this food ... tasty tajines, couscous, a wide variety of fresh salads, aromatic slow roasted Mediterranean vegetables... Participants will receive tajine cookware and a little suede covered notebook to record the day's events including the writing of the shopping list in phonetic Arabic! (The cooking class is conducted in English by all who participate; the shopping is done in your newly acquired souk Arabic!)Classes in the foothills of the Atlas include all transport and lunch; the village is far off the tourist trail where you shop for your produce from the little stalls, your mule will be waiting with his saddle bags. After crossing the river you continue into a more remote village where you will cook with the wife of the muleteer who led you there. There will be time to walk and ride further into other mountain villages, to waterfalls and the choice of having lunch by the river before returning back to Marrakech. Naturally, all transport is included in this short break and you round off your whole break with a memorable evening at one of Marrakech's finest restaurants (no cooking required!) |
