The Historic Tin-Mal Mosque and Mountain Hike

The minimum reservation for our accommodation only service is 3 nights in total, although not necessarily at same property. Simply contact us by phone or email or complete one of our enquiry forms. Security - Rediscover the World is a member of the TTA (T6816), we also hold our own ATOL bond (T7172). We therefore provide full financial security and assistance should any part of your holiday not happen entirely to plan. If you were to assemble your holiday yourself you may not have this sort of protection.

Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays:

High up in the Atlas mountains is the Lhasa-like 12th century mosque of Tin-Mal, one of only two mosques in Morocco open to visits by non-Moslems. Leaving Marrakech by car at around 9 in the morning for the berber mountain village of ljoukak, our easy 3 hour hike with our liecenced mountian guide, takes us up and down the charming contours of the high Atlas valley slopes, passing Berber hamlets, streams, orchards and ancient terraced, irrigated fields until we reach the small, remote stronghold settlement and now-famous mosque of Tin-Mal.

After a guided tour of this historical site, we shall picnic (included) by its ochre-red walls before returning to Marrakech by 5pm. Something quite out of the ordinary, a relatively easy way to breath in at close hand the history and lifestyle of a proud and hardy mountain people at home in their impressive surroundings; something really not to be missed. Good trainers would suffice, but walking boots are reccommended.
