Mistletoe and Wine - 2010
The festive season is a good time to visit Father Christmas in his own magical kingdom of Lapland. Just after Christmas things are quieter in Lapland and it is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some quality family time together, soaking up the wonderful atmosphere of Europe's last unspoiled wilderness as you set out into the magnificent snowscapes for a range of snow activities. And, what's more, Santa has not set off on his holidays yet and he will be happy to chat with you now that all his hard work is over.
After a festive flight you land in Enontekio in Finland and are guided to your coach for the 15 minute journey to Hetta. Watch out for reindeer in the woods!
Temperatures here can fall to -35C in December and you stop to collect your all-in-one thermal suits and boots, an essential part of your holiday package. Hats, scarves and gloves are also necessary, so remember to pack some for everyone!
After checking in at your chosen hoteli, your Transun rep hosts a welcome meeting, giving you all the information needed to get the most from your break and during a welcome dinner your rep will be available to answer any further questions. This evening you can join one of the optional activities.
After breakfast, you head outside for Supervised Snow Fun, a day of supervised activities that include a Snowshoe Trek, Snowball Throwing Contest, Tandem Skis and Children's Skis, Snowman Building, Tug-of-War, Snow Hockey, and lots more! In addition, there will be a supervised kids' snowmobile ride. Activities are available throughout the day. A hot lunch will be provided.
Then the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh in search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and receives a small gift. This evening join a walk to the local church. After a short welcome by the vicar and carol singing, you return to your hotel for dinner.
After breakfast, you enjoy your first included Santa safari, either a 40-minute Husky Experience or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Adventure, followed by a warming buffet lunch at the hotel.
Throughout the day you can enjoy snow activities outside, with toboggans available free of charge and kick sledges available upon payment of a deposit. Alternatively you might opt to join the indoor craft activities. After dinner relax or join an optional activity.
Check out after breakfast, before joining your last Santa safari, a 40-minute Husky Experience or a 1.5-hour Snowmobile Adventure, which ever you did not do previously. There should be time for one final play in the snow or to join one of the optional excursions, perhaps reindeer herding. After a hot lunch, depart for Enontekio and your flight home.
