Yllas Luxury Cabins Christmas trip -4 days - 2010

Christmas is a special time of the year. After a year of long and careful preparations Santa’s sleigh is full of presents for all the children around the world. Father Christmas agreed to see us just before his big world tour. We learned that he will be in his cabin in the afternoon of Christmas Eve and is waiting to see us!

23rd December

On arrival in Kittila with your representative you will transfer to Yllasjarvi (approx 50 minutes). Stop in the safari house in Yllasjarvi village to collect thermal clothing. Check in and guided tour of the cabin. After a light lunch in your cabin you depart for a husky dog farm where you will learn about the lives of husky dogs and take part in a husky dog safari of 3km. Dinner will be served in your cabin.

Christmas Eve

Breakfast and depart from your cabin for a 20 - 30 minute reindeer ride that will take you through the snowy landscape to the reindeer herders' cabins and the Magic Forest. Join in tandem skiing, snow shoe walking and tobogganing. Children can drive mini snowmobiles, make Christmas decorations and gingerbread cookies. Each family can meet Santa on a private basis in his cabin in the forest where he has stopped for a rest. Santa will read your child's letters and he will have a present of a small soft toy for them. A simple Lappish lunch will be served in the cabin in the forest. On the way back to your cabin there will be a stop for souvenir shopping. Arrive back at approximately 16.00. Dinner will be served in your cabin.

Christmas Day

A free morning after breakfast - perhaps you would like to go tobogganing? Downhill skiing can also be arranged locally. In the afternoon depart for snow shoe walking and an ice fishing adventure, lasting approximately 2 hours. A festive dinner will be served in your cabin.

Boxing Day

A free morning after breakfast. After checking out of the cabin you will depart on a winter wonderland snowmobile safari. Adults can drive snowmobiles through the Lappish countryside and forests, whilst children and those who do not wish to drive are pulled behind in sleighs. Stop in the forest for lunch in the kota (Lappish tepee). After lunch adults who wish to have a faster ride (without sleighs pulled behind) are welcome to join instructor for an exhilarating ride through the forest. Those who stay behind can toboggan and sit around the fire on this authentic and secluded venue. Warm juice, coffee and ginger bread cookies are served throughout the stay in the forest. Depart for the airport early evening.
