Magic of Lapland Yllashumina Short Break - 2012

Day 1
0700-0800: Flights usually depart for Lapland from London Gatwick. The flight time is approximately 3.5 hours. On arrival at Lapland transfer to Akaslompolo and the Yllashumina Hotel with a stop en-route to collect thermal clothing (transfer time approximately 50 mins). A simple light lunch is served in the Yllashumina hotel.
1730: Depart for a husky farm, home to over 100 huskies, where you will learn about the lives of the huskies and drive your own team of dogs through Lapland's wild countryside (5km)
1900-2000: Dinner in Yllashumina restaurant.

Day 2
0800 - 1000: Breakfast in the Yllashumina restaurant.
1015: Transfer to Lapp Village (approximately 5 minutes by coach) for an Arctic Circle ceremony and snow fun activities - tandem skiing, snowshoe walking, kick sledging, tobogganing and children's snowmobiling. Make gingerbread cookies and Christmas decorations in the Poro restaurant in the Lapp Village. Lunch is served throughout the day. You will receive an invite from Santa with your scheduled time for a visit. Your visit to Santa starts with a snowmobile ride of approximately 20 minutes, followed by a reindeer ride. Santa's cabin is in the forest in a secluded spot and each family is guaranteed a private audience. Santa reads children's letters and each child receives a soft toy as a gift from Santa.
1800-2000: Festive dinner at Yllashumina restaurant. The festive dinner is buffet style and is a combination of international and Finnish traditional dishes.

Day 3
0800 - 1000: Breakfast in the Yllashumina restaurant.
Morning at leisure - if you choose to go on an optional excursion please check-out after breakfast and before your morning activity.
1130: Check-out ( leave your luggage in Humina pub which will be locked in your absence)
1200-1300: Light lunch at the hotel
1300: Snowmobile safari through Lapland's unspoilt wilderness. After receiving driving instruction, safety equipment and advice you set off for a wilderness snowmobile safari. Two adults share a snowmobile and children (and those who do not wish to drive) are pulled in the sleigh behind the snowmobiles. The will be a half way stop in the forest for a warm drink and snack. On your return to the hotel you leave the thermal clothing in the Humina pub and collect your luggage ready for your transfer to the airport.
1730: Depart for Kittila airport, Lapland (short stop en route for souvenir shopping)
2000 (approx.) - Return flight to UK from Lapland
2130 (approx.) - Arrive UK

N.B.
1-4 December break itinerary is 3 nights and 4 days. The itinerary is the same as above but the activities are taken on 2 and 3 December due to flight schedules. This break has scheduled flights with Finnair in economy class from either London Heathrow or Manchester to Kittilä via Helsinki.
15-18 December and 20-23 December break itineraries are 3 nights and 4 days. The itinerary is the same as above with Day 3 being free and activities on Day 3 moving to Day 4.
23-26 December break, the returning flight leaves Kittila at 1600.
