Imagine setting out with your children in search of the real Father Christmas in the snow-filled realms of Lapland! It is an experience which will live in their memories forever. The setting is a winter wonderland, on the edge of Europe's last great wilderness. It's magical, of course...why else would Santa make his home here? You start out on snowmobiles, then in the quiet forest you transfer to a reindeer sleigh. Perhaps an elf will appear to help you look for clues. Suddenly you glimpse a golden glow from a lonely log cabin - might this be Santa's secret hideaway?
Your search for Santa is the highlight of your two night break, but there is so much more included. From a husky experience to a snowmobile adventure, from sledging to a festive dinner, your short break is filled with memorable experiences. Below is a typical itinerary.
Day One
After you land in Enontekio in Finland you are guided to your coach. The journey to Hetta takes around 15 minutes and one hour to the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando. Watch out for reindeer in the woods!Temperatures here can fall to -35C in December and you stop to collect your all-in-one thermal suits and boots, an essential part of your holiday package. Hats, scarves and gloves are also necessary, so remember to pack some for everyone!
After checking in at your chosen accommodation, your Transun rep hosts a welcome meeting, giving you all the information needed to get the most from your break and during dinner your rep will be available to answer any further questions. After breakfast you will be joining your first inclouded Santa Safari- the one hour snowmobile safari. A supervised children's snowmobile ride will be available or, if you are lucky, a chance to get up close to a friendly reindeer. A warming lunch will then follow.
Then, the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh and set off in search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and receives a small gift.
Return to your hotel for a Festive Dinner. After dinner, why not join an optional Northern Lights Husky Safari?
Day Three
After breakfast, you check out before embarking on the husky experience. Then there's time for snow activities with toboggans available. There is also plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or having snowball fights. You could even try one of the exciting optional excursions, perhaps reindeer herding. After lunch you set off to Enontekio Airport and your flight home.
