Resorts

Pyha
An attractive ski village setting, featuring quality appartments and cabins set in an idyllic location. Phya is known locally in Finland for the excellence of its ski slopes and it is easy to understand why Santa Claus has chosen the area for one of his many homes in the region.

Salla
A small and pretty ski resort in splendid isolation it is here that you find a series of quality cabins and a small hotel.

Located some 2 hours from Rovaniemi the setting is peaceful and tranquil whilst the resort offers the creature comforts that one might expect. Here you find cross country tracts on the doorstep and a beautiful slalom ski slope running into the very centre of activities so it is little wonder that Santa has chosen this area to have one of his many homes in Lapland.

Itinerary

Day One:

Following arrival at Rovaniemi airport, transportation will be provided to Pyha or Salla where you will be accommodated in the accommodation of your choice. Watch out for Tricky Dicky the elf who may wish to mislead you in your search for Santa. Enjoy a welcome dinner in the main restaurant of the complex. Overgarments and boots will be allocated on arrival at the resort.

Day Two:

Following a substantial breakfast it's time to go in search of Santa. Here in this magical land we are sure to enjoy rides with Santa's very own reindeer. Then there's the huskies awaiting and the opportunity to enjoy rides on the snowmobiles. Look out for Santa, as you are sure to catch a glimpse of him at one or more locations during the day. Will the elves help you find him today or is that special treat reserved for tomorrow? Lunch will be provided at an outdoor venue and dinner will be at the main restaurant of the complex.

Day Three:

If you have been unsuccessful in your search yesterday then for sure Santa must be found today before you leave for home. It is known that Santa never disappoints children visiting him in his homeland and each family can be assured of a warm personal welcome so following breakfast once again you will use reindeers, huskies and snowmobiles during your search with lunch at one of the outdoor venues. This afternoon return to Rovaniemi for your flight home to the UK.

ACCOMMODATION - Hotel, apartments or cabins

Phya offers a choice of cabins, hotel, Pyha Suites and Holy suites.

Phya cabins are within walking distance to the restaurant (10-15 minutes on average). These are very varied in style, accommodating from 3 to 6 persons. They are generally open plan i.e. no separate bedrooms and beds vary between bunk beds (in traditional Lappish style), double beds and beds in the loft area for adults and children alike. Cabins always have a sauna, but not all have log fires. If this is important to you then please mention it. These cabins are non-smoking cabins.

Hotel rooms are located in the main building which houses the restaurant. There is a selection of hotel rooms sleeping 2-3 persons as well as a few family rooms for up to 4 persons. Rooms are well equipped with private shower and WC.

Pyha Suites offer accommodation for up to 4 persons and generally feature 2 separate bedrooms -one with twin/double bed abd the other with bunk beds for children. These have private facilities including sauna, drying cupboard for clothes and a mini stereo system /CD player and DVD/VHS player.

Holy Suites are for 5 to 8 persons and are only five minutes from the main restaurant. The smaller suites have three twin bedrooms and the larger have four. Every apartment has a sauna, private facilities, well equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace and drying cupboard for clothes.

ACCOMMODATION in SALLA:

Hotel or cabins

......... Salla has a fine choice of accommodations consisting of cabins and a hotel. Hotel rooms are well equipped with private shower and WC. Naturally there is the convenience of coming directly from your hotel room to the restaurant without having to change into and out of your thermal clothing as the rooms and restaurant are in the same building. New for 2007 is a small spa. This provides a fantastic view through panorama windows to the skiing area. Consisting of four pools there are also saunas available (small local charge applies). Cabins are ideal for families as they sleep up to 4 persons (some sleep up to 6). Each is equipped with a private shower and wc, sauna and a log fire (all have central heating as well!) There is a small kitchen area and each has a warm air clothes drier. Cabins do vary in style in this resort and pre-selection is not possible.
