Dar Zemora
(Marrakech - Palmeraie)
|
We fear that the Dar Zemora as a well kept secret in the Palmeraie will soon be discovered. If your idea of a holiday is to totally relax in beautiful and peaceful surroundings whilst being tended to by attentive staff then this is definitely the place for you.
The Dar Zemora is a smallish villa compared to some but this surely adds to its charm and intimate atmosphere. The four rooms and two suites are all individually appointed and have views onto the lush gardens. Thought and care has obviously been taken – a CD player in each room with a perfect selection of CDs; individual Jasmin shampoo and bath foam in the bathrooms alongside a pile of soft fluffy towels. There are colourful rugs throughout, bright silk cushions scattered on the cool terrace and 3 sumptuous lounges - one with games and coffee table books, one with deep leather 'squishy' sofas and a fireplace and the other with a small library and internet/mail access.
Lying by the pool I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a delicious pot of Earl Grey (served, of course, in a china cup) and a slice of the most delicious home made cake I have ever tasted. When I learned that this is a regular occurrence in the afternoon I was tempted to stay for the whole week! The staff are attentive yet never intrusive and nothing is too much trouble. Dinner was a real treat – meals vary daily according to guests wishes and whatever produce is fresh. I enjoyed a selection of mouth-watering salads, lamb tagine with prunes and almonds followed by chocolate mousse and coffee which was one of the tastiest meals I have had in recent years. The dining room is softly lit by candles creating a romantic atmosphere. The house is a credit to the British owners and when the staff bade me farewell with the wish that they would see me again I had no doubt that they would. |
