Reykjavík is Iceland’s largest city and the most northerly capital in the world. With around four hours of daylight on a winter's day, it is a city full of atmosphere. It's a great place to visit whatever the season.

Being winter you may see the magnificent Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) dancing in the night sky - an unforgettable experience.

On this short break you can also witness the natural wonders of Iceland, pure thermal energy generated deep from beneath the earth; marvel at beautiful landscapes or enjoy the lively culture of Reykjavik. Perhaps you just fancy relaxing, breathing in pure, clean air and recharging your batteries.

• Day One: Arrival

  Transfer from Keflavik Airport to Reykjavik with Flybus (included). Depending on your arrival time you can add a special transfer to head straight away to the Blue Lagoon, Iceland's famous geothermal spa.

  Here you can let the water's natural mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax. Outdoor massages and spa treatments are also available here (extra cost, need to be prebooked). After your visit you will be driven to your hotel in Reykjavik (40 minutes away).

   

   

• Day Two: Day at leisure (or optional tour) and included Northern Lights Mystery tour

  Today you may wish to relax and explore the city or why not take the chance to leave Reykjavik to see a bit more of this country?
  
  The Golden Circle needs little introduction: it includes some Iceland’s most stunning sights. You'll see the hot spring Strokkur shoot a column of water up to 30 meters (98 ft.) into the air every 4-8 minutes! You'll also visit the magnificent Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall, created where the river Hvítá tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32 m (105 ft.) deep. The tour also includes the historical and geological wonder that is Þingvellir National Park, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimetres per year. 
  
  In addition to this you will visit the Friðheimar greenhouse cultivation centre, where you'll learn the secret behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of the geothermal heat which Iceland has in abundance.

  In the evening see if you can track down the elusive Northern Lights. These can appear any time from autumn to spring and sightings are never guaranteed. If it is a clear night you may be fortunate to witness their wild and carefree dance across the sky in dramatic shapes, colours, patterns and sizes.
  

• Day Three: Day at leisure (optional day trips)

  Day at leisure or you have the choice of two optional excursions:

  South Shore Adventure

  This tour is ideal for nature lovers of all kinds. You will have an opportunity to stand behind the plummeting Seljalandsfoss waterfall, walk up to the Skógarfoss waterfall and gaze at the formations. Travel along the south coast of Iceland as far as Vík í Mýrdal a small charming village surrounded by beautiful high cliffs, popular with nesting birds.

  Highlights of the day are stunning views of glaciers, black lava sand coast lines and impressive rock formations.

  Duration approximately: 10 hours.

   

  Glacier Walk

  You will be guided through the labyrinth of a glacier tongue extending down from the fourth biggest glacier in Iceland. Only two hours from Reykjavík you find the Eyjafjallajökull massif, and just a little further east the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down from its mother glacier, Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland’s fourth largest. This is a safe and easy glacier walk on crampons up on to the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses await your discovery. An Iceland glacier walk is a great way to experience nature and the Sólheimajökull glacier is an ideal place to spend the day.  Your experienced mountain guides will teach you how to use the basic ice equipment necessary for this tour. On the way back there’s a stop at the picturesque waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss.
  
  Minimum age: 10 yrs.

• Day Four: Departure

  Transfer to Keflavik Airport with Flybus for your return flight (included).
  
  Depending on your departure time, you could add a transfer to the airport via the Blue Lagoon. What could be nicer than spending a few hours in this relaxing  geothermal spa before your flight back home? This tour starts in Reykjavik, where you are picked up from your hotel and driven to the Blue Lagoon (40 minutes drive). After having enjoyed all that the Blue Lagoon has to offer you'll be taken to Keflavik airport.
