HIKE ZAGORI
A beautiful tour which leads you through the picturesque villages of Zagori and under the high peaks of Mount Timfi (2497m).
The region is famous for these interesting and traditional villages. During the week you will cross the Vikos Gorge, hike over the famous bridges and stone tracks and on the high plateau of Mount Timfi.
Summary
Day 1: Arrive at Preveza Airport and transfer to Vitsa (around a 2 hour journey) where you can relax in the afternoon. Overnight Vitsa, famous for its double arched bridge.
Day 2: A day filled with delightful scenery as you walk around the villages and explore the old bridges which once connected them. The highlight is Dilofo, a preserved village, which has stayed untouched through the years.

Day 3: Today you start to cross Vikos Gorge, an impressive canyon, and one of the deepest in the world! You will transfer to Monodendri then walk downhill to the river which flows through the gorge. Walking alongside this river you enter into the heart of the National Park. If you are fortunate you may encounter some of the wildlife for which this park is famous. The walk ends at Vikos and there is a bus transfer to Aristi where you spend the night.
Day 4: Today's walk takes you from Vikos to Mikro Papigo. First port of call will be the Voidomatis springs, then there is a steep climb towards Mikro Papigo, one of the most beautiful villages of Zagori. You can spend the evening swimming in the natural pools near the village.Day 5: From Papigo you hike through quite beautiful scenery to the Astraka hut, where you will spend the night. After a short rest here you continue to the Dracolimni alpine lake. The views over the Pindos mountain range are spectacular. Back to the hut for overnight.

Day 6: A long day as you have to cross the Timfi mountain range. The walk will bring you to the beginning of Megas Lakos, a canyon which ends at Vikos. Tsepelovo is the destination for the night.
Day 7: The last day will lead you along mule tracks (kalderimia) and through the plains of Vradeto, the highest village in Zagori. You will hike down the impressive Vradeto steps, which take you to Kapesovo. Elati is where you spend your last night of the tour.
Day 8: Transfer from Elati to Preveza Airport.
This tour is fully guided and offers 6 days walking. It includes all accommodation on BB basis in guest houses and mountain refuges, local transfers where needed, local English speaking certified trekking guide.
The trek involves point to point trekking. It is not difficult technically but you would need to be confident of your fitness.
