Classical Greece tour and Meteora 4 days
Day 1 |
Early morning departure for the Argolis region. There will be a short stop for photos at the Corinth Canal - if you are fortunate there may be a ship passing through! Proceed to Mycenae to visit the archaeological site, where you will see the Lion's gate, the Royal Tombs and the Cyclopean Walls. Next stop is Nafplion and in the afternoon you will visit the ancient theatre at Epidavrus, whose acoustics are reputed to be the best in the world. Depart for Olympia, the birth place of the Olympic Games. Dinner and overnight in Olympia. | |
Day 2 |
Visit the archaeological site of Olympia with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the archaeological Museum. Depart via Patras (short stop) to Rion where you will cross the Corinthian bay on the bridge to Antirion. Pass by the city of Nafpaktos and from there on, along the coastal road, to Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. Dinner and overnight in Delphi. | |
Day 3 |
Visit the archaeological site, and the museum of Delphi. Depart for Kalambaka in the afternoon via the scenic villages of central Greece. Overnight stay in Kalambaka - a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks and crowned by the Meteora Monasteries. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka. | |
Day 4 |
Visit the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora in the morning, return to Athens via the monument to heroic Leonidas at Thermopylae. | |
Accommodation on the tour is in 3* or 4* hotels on half board basis (4 nights)
