Any tour of Marrakech should begin by exploring the Medina followed by a visit to the Djemma el Fna (main square) in the shadow of the renovated Koutoubia Mosque. Enter further into the labyrinthine souk for some serious bargaining and you will be immersed in the sights, sounds and aromas of this mediaeval market place. In the evening the Djemma el Fna becomes alive with a plethora of al fresco dining opportunities such as spicy sausages, fresh fish and chips, (sheep's heads are perhaps only for the very hearty traveller though) and traditional Harira soup washed down with plenty of sweet mint tea of course. All the time you will be surrounded by acrobats, snake charmers, fortune tellers and entertainers of all kinds. |

Definitely one of our favourites, this fabulous 4* hotel, located in the French Quarter of Gueliz, is a real delight. It's authentic architecture and style strike you as soon as you arrive.

Incredibly this luxury riad-inspired hotel is just around the corner from the Djemma el Fna. It actually stands on the site of a 13th Century palace and has taken the theme to its heart with many original pieces of woodwork.

The Jardins occupies a former residence and has corners that are true riad but this is combined with architectural and gardening imagination into a 'best of both worlds' boutique hotel.
