Escapade Day Trip to Lapland - 2008

Escapade takes you into a magical realm of frozen lakes, snowladen forests and vast untamed wilderness vistas. This is True Lapland and is the home of the genuine Sami people, whose ancestors traditionally followed a nomadic way of life. When we are lucky enough to discover Santa's whereabouts, each family will have an opportunity to make a private visit to talk with him in his cabin/kota. What's more, the Escapade day break offers some of the most substantial Arctic activities of any Lapland day breaks currently available.
Fly to Enontekio airport, from where this magical day break takes you deep within the winter landscape to a location in the far-flung northern corner of Lapland. The price includes the protective warmth of a thermal suit and boots but please ensure that you bring additional scarves, hat and gloves.
Having been transported into the heart of the Lappish wilderness, you can take your pick from a wide range of activities. Enjoy a sled journey, being drawn by an eager team of huskies (duration ten to 15 minutes) and an altogether calmer reindeer sleigh trip of five to seven minutes duration. The day break also includes a snowmobile trip (duration approx. five minutes) when adults with a full UK driving licence have the opportunity to drive themselves (children pulled in a sleigh).
As well as all the activities detailed above, there will be time to play in the snow, giving children (and their parents too!) the chance to make snowmen, enjoy tobogganing, kick sledging and other snow games. Children's snowmobiles are also available. A warming two-course lunch is included in the price of your day break.
The highlight of the day arrives when you venture into the snow-clad surroundings in the hope of finding the hidden log cabin or Sami kota where Santa stays at this time of the year. Each family will be able to enjoy a private visit with Santa, who - we are sure - will find the time to talk to each child individually about their Christmas wishes.
