Quinta Bela Sao Tiago (4*)
The characterful Quinta Bela Sao Tiago was originally built by a traditional Madeiran family in 1894 near the old town of Funchal. Recently it has been lovingly resorted and extended to offer a gracious retreat offering also a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to its elevated position the hotel enjoys gorgeous views over the bay of Funchal.
Accommodation:
All rooms (58 and 3 suites) have air conditioning/heating with ensuite bathrooms, satellite TV & minibar. Most rooms face the ocean and have balconies; suites also available.
Facilities:
A heated outdoor pool with panoramic views, sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish bath and a gym. The hotel has an a la carte restaurnt ‘O Portico’ in the original part of the house which serves local cuisine. Underground car park (very useful in this part of town).
The gardens of the Quinta are truly a delight, planted over a century ago they still have the original banana plantation and an orchard with a selection of banana, papaya and mango fruits.
