La Mamounia is situated within the 12^th century city walls this deluxe hotel has been rightly named many times amongst the top hotels in the world. Set amidst 17 acres of fragrant flower gardens La Mamounia, since its conception in 1922, has become a byword for elegance and opulence. This is perhaps the reason a host of celebrities and politicians over the years have added their names to the impressive guest list.

One of the hotel’s most famous and frequent visitors was Winston Churchill. A renowned painter he was often to be seen gathering artistic inspiration from the majestic Atlas Mountains surrounding Marrakech.

As sumptuous inside as well as out the hotel is an intriguing mixture of Art Deco and traditional Moorish design with its plush carpets together with the ornate marble and wood filigree work. Lavishly refurbished in 1986 and most rooms have been updated again in 2002/3 we know that you won’t be disappointed.

Accommodation

171 rooms, 57 suites and 3 villas, all with air-conditioning, direct dial telephone, mini bar, radio, satellite television and, of course, 24-hour room service. All rooms are very similar inside, however they are graded according to view; courtyard (std.), park (superior), Koutoubia Mosque (superior) or pool (superior). Suites are opulent and are categorised as Junior, Duplex, Moroccan and Ambassador; some theme suites are also available on request, e.g. Churchill Suite.

Facilities

Five restaurants (Le Marocaine, L'Orangerie, L'Italien, Les Trois Palmiers poolside grill and the Marrakech L'Imperiale gourmet which is formal), four bars (including the famous Churchill Piano Bar and a pool bar), 24hr room service.

Outdoor swimming pool (heated in winter) with sunloungers, parasols and towels, casino, health and beauty salons, billiards room, flood-lit tennis courts, air-conditioned squash courts, gymnasium, boules area, golf driving range with golf shop, table tennis, billiards room, hammam, jacuzzi, sauna and massage suite.
