| Kokkari is a resort that has grown out of a small fishing village on the north coast. Generally, a laid-back resort, Kokkari offers an excellent choice of fish tavernas, modest shopping and a few bars in the centre. A great location for taking trips by car or on foot into the island's interior. It is also a recognised centre for windsurfing. |

This one-time classical city is now Samos' main resort. Pythagorion and its hotels and apartments are a very short transfer from the airport. A cosmopolitan town now, centred on a picturesque harbour, a good selection of places to eat and drink plus safe, shingle beaches nearby. |

ARCHAEOLOGICAL & HISTORICAL SITES
“HERAION” (TEMPLE OF HERA)
This temple of Hera represents Classical Greece and is one of the most significant excavations in the Ionian Area. Mythology places here the birth and childhood of the goddess Hera, thus the worshipping of her on Samos dates from the very ancient times. There are interesting ruins of the ‘Temple of Imvrassian Hera’ (one of the greatest temples in Antiquity), ruins of Hellentistic and Roman buildings, remnants of a Paleo-Christian Basilica etc.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
In this museum we can adore all of the most wonderful excavations of ‘HERAION’, dating from the Pre-historic, Geometric and mainly from the Archaic Era. Apart from other works of sculpture of different art, also exhibitions from the Hellenistic Era. The greatest and thus most famous pieces of excavations from the Archaic Period are the assemblage of the Samian sculptor GENELEOS and – above all – the 5,5 m huge statue of a young man – KOUROS.
MONASTERY “TIMIOS STAVROS”
The visit to this monastery is an example of Byzantine Greece. It is one of the most beautiful monasteries of the island, built in 16th century by the monks Neilos and Dionyssos. The church of this monastery is of Byzantine architectural order and with its exceptionally beautiful wooden carved sanctuary it is one of the most famous monasteries of Samos.
