Imerovigli

Lying only a short distance rom Fira Imerovigli is the highest village on the island and has a superb view over Thira and the Caldera - in fact it is these breathtaking views which attract many holidaymakers. Imerovigli is a pictureque village in its own right with narrow cobbled lanes and white washed houses. Below Imerovigli is the site of the old Venetian capital, Skaros, which was abandoned after repeated earthquake. The hotels and apartments in Imerovigli cling to the cliffside so there may be a fair amount of steps. The village itself has a good choice of eateries, supermarkets and shops and there is a good bus service to Fira and Oia. If you decide to rent a car there is plenty of parking in the square.
