Imagine ... driving through the Arctic snowscapes at the controls of a snowmobile. There are few experiences quite as exhilarating! These vehicles have transformed the way of life of the Sami people who live in this part of the world. Your short break includes a snowmobile adventure, where you will travel amidst the fells, forests and frozen lakes of Europe's last wilderness.
Your snowmobile adventure is just part of your three night break but there is so much more included. From a magical search for Santa to a husky dog sled experience your three night break is filled with wonderful, magical experiences. Here is a typical itinerary:
After you land in Enontekio in Finland you are guided to your coach. The journey to Hetta takes around 15 minutes and one hour to the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando. Watch out for reindeer in the woods!
Temperatures here can fall to -35C in December and you stop to collect your all-in-one thermal suits and boots, an essential part of your holiday package. Hats, scarves and gloves are also necessary, so remember to pack some for everyone!
After checking in at your chosen accommodation, your Transun rep hosts a welcome meeting, giving you all the information needed to get the most from your break and during dinner your rep will be available to answer any further questions. This evening you can join one of the optional activities.
After breakfast, you enjoy your first included Santa safari, a 40-minute Husky Experience followed by a warming lunch.
Throughout the day you can enjoy snow activities outside, with toboggans available free of charge. Or, if you prefer, there's plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or enjoying a good old-fashioned snowball fight!
This evening, enjoy a walk to the local church. After a short welcome by the vicar and carol singing, you return to your accommodation for dinner. Then you can relax, or join one of the optional night safaris.
After breakfast, you head outside for your second included Santa safari - the snowmobile adventure! This is followed by a warm lunch. A supervised kids' snowmobile ride will be available or, if you are lucky, a chance to get up close to a friendly reindeer. Then, the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh in search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his secret cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa and receives a small gift.
Later, enjoy a Festive Dinner at your hotel. After dinner, why not join an optional excursion?
Check out after breakfast. There should be time for one final play in the snow or to join one of the optional excursions. After lunch, depart for Enontekio and your flight home.
