In the morning you will start your journey towards Mostar; in its beautiful valley between the high mountains of Herzegovina. A picturesque old city recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city’s famous, elegant and most recognizable landmark is the Old Bridge made of stone, completely renewed after the war. It is a symbol of reconciliation and the co-existence of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious communities. The tour will continue exploring Mostar in the Old Bazaar, Mosque and a typical Turkish house.
Seeking even more stories, continue to Sarajevo, a cosmopolitan European capital with a unique twist, the result of millennia exposed to various cultural and historical influences: a pure delight to visit. You will spend the afternoon walking around its historical and cultural centre - Basčarsija - Sarajevo’s old bazaar, designed according to the Arabian souk and the most famous meeting point for small talk and daily news over a traditional Turkish coffee. There, you can savour the best čevapčići (chevapchichi) the most famous local dish made of minced meat. You will also visit the Gazi Husref Bey Mosque.
After breakfast you will travel northwards to Belgrade, with a stop in time for lunch. Continuation to Belgrade, dinner at local restaurant Balkan-style.
In the morning a sightseeing tour of Belgrade. The tour includes a visit to the imposing Kalemegdan Fortress, dramatically set at the confluence of the Sava and Danube Rivers. You´ll also see Republic Square and Knez Mihajlova Street, Saint Sava Temple, the largest Orthodox Church in the city, and Tito’s Memorial.
Afterwards, continue on to the Croatian capital Zagreb.
Wake up in a city rich with gorgeous greenery – a city famous for its parks and preserved natural environment - the Croatian capital Zagreb. This is an eminently walkable city and the morning expedition takes explorers through its long history clearly visible in architecture and landscapes. The city tour of Zagreb includes the historic Upper Town where you'll find St. Mark’s Church, with its famous multicoloured mosaic-tiled roof, on the square where both Croatian Parliament and the seat of Government are located. You will also pass by the University and the typically Gothic Cathedral, of great architectural value, whose two spires, visible from locations across the city, help Zagreb explorers find their way. With the fountain in front sculpted by the world famous sculptor Ivan Mestrović, you cannot miss the Croatian National Theatre, housed in the present - day Old City Hall and home to Zagreb’s drama, opera and ballet productions, with world and Croatian classics put on stage. Here is a perfect example of the city’s diversity: not only a cultural and historical landmark but also a favourite hang-out for skateboarders! All through your expedition, you will find Zagreb society outdoors, on streets and squares, cafés and bars, for this is Europe’s only capital with a scent of the Adriatic.
Following the city experience, your tour will continue to Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia's many UNESCO World Heritage sites, to be immersed in peace and serenity. Sixteen lakes - each at a different level are joined by a series of cascading waterfalls. Situated in a dense forest, the Plitvice Lakes are a natural phenomenon of rare beauty.
Awake to the morning sun and birds singing and depart for two World Heritage sites. First, Trogir, a pear-like town in the heart of Dalmatia. Here you'll touch the story of the Roman Empire in the walls of the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica constructed in Romanesque-Gothic style. Then south to Split, "the most beautiful city in the world", as its citizens proudly proclaim. In the city tour we explore the UNESCO - listed Diocletian’s Palace with its Peristyle, Temple of Jupiter and Cathedral.
After breakfast depart for the jewel that is Dubrovnik and take a sightseeing tour of this spectacular, UNESCO-protected, fortified city whose city walls can be walked on. Dubrovnik was known as the Republic of Ragusa in the middle Ages and became the only Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by skilled diplomacy and wealth, the city achieved a remarkable development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. You will visit the Franciscan Monastery with Europe’s third oldest pharmacy, Rector’s Palace and Cathedral.
The tour ends after breakfast with a transfer to Dubrovnik Airport.
