Riad Les Trois Mages

Marrakech [Riad Laarous]

About Riad Les Trois Mages

Riad Les Trois Mages (The Three Kings) is located in the heart of the historical quarter of Riad Laarouss, a short walk from the famous Djemaa El Fna square. Unusually for the medina, a taxi from the airport can transport you to within twenty feet of the front door where you will be welcomed by the British manager. The riad's location will allow you to experience the hustle and bustle of the medina, whilst being able to retreat to a place of comfort and tranquility.

This riad is available as part of any tailor made holiday with Rediscover the World.

The decoration incorporates the best Moroccan craftsmanship. The furnishings are commissioned to the highest standard, with a mixture of traditional artifacts, rich opulent fabrics and sumptuous carpets integrated with a touch of western know-how to make your stay unforgettable.

Accommodation: the riad consists of five bedrooms and one suite. All have air conditioning, heating and full ensuite facilities. The suite even has its own fireplace and lounge together with a traditional Hammam style bath.

  • Jade - first floor: secluded behind purple veils the large four-poster bed gives a regal feel to this room. Sumptuous fabrics, locally hand-crafted furnishings and romantic lighting blend effortlessly to create a relaxing haven. The traditional hammam style shower and tiled vanity unit impart an overtly Moroccan influence to your bathing experience.
  • Arabesque - first floor: furnished to a high standard with locally crafted iron work the ornate bedstead is inlaid with walnut and matching bedside cabinets. A minimalist style dominates the room where subtle lighting and traditional alcoves create an intimate atmosphere. The bathroom is decorated in tadelekt with ochre hues and a large hammam style bath.
  • Balthazar - first floor: this large room is predominated by a noble canopied four-poster bed cloaked in orange veils. The blend of ornate furnishings designed by local artisans, vibrant fabrics and Berber carpets create a room where the colours and textures of the souks come to life. A traditional Hammam shower, recessed toilet and vanity unit with copper basin complete the true Moroccan feel of this room.
  • Gaspard - ground floor: also located off the central courtyard this room has twin beds, recessed alcoves and is decorated with hand-crafted Berber Kilims. The bathroom is crafted in dove grey tadelekt. Situated next to Melchior this twin room is popular with parents traveling with children.
  • Melchior - ground floor: the ornate metal framed bed rests on a raised platform hidden behind traditional archways and framed with virginal drapes. You descend into a small lounge area with a recessed hand-crafted Berber wardrobe and luxurious Kilim carpet. The bathroom has a traditional Hammam style bath with tadelekt and tiled finish throughout. This room opens onto the central courtyard with its cloistered sitting rooms and grand piano.
  • Bahia - first floor: be it honeymoon, anniversary or you just feel like treating yourself to something a bit more special the Bahia suite is sure to please. A large sunken bed on a raised platform dominates the suite behind majestic pillars and veiled alcoves. Step down into the lounge area where you can relax in the privacy of the open fire. There is a hand-carved built-in wardrobe and traditional wooden shutters can be opened to reveal a view of the courtyard below, and impart the early morning scent of jasmine throughout the suite. The large Hammam style bath and shower is encased in traditional brick work with star shaped openings, which convey subtle lighting within. Despite the myriad of attractions Marrakech has to offer you could be forgiven for not wanting to leave your room!

Lounges & public areas: the large sun terrace is ideal for sun worshippers; loungers are placed around the heated roof top pool. Subtle lighting creates an intimate atmosphere to while away the evenings. There is also the added attraction of the romantic tent with its flowing curtains and silk cushions. Here you can get some shade during the day and lounge at leisure with a drink at night under the stars.

The Riad has three lounges. The blue lounge, adjoining the courtyard, is a tranquil and relaxing space to sip mint tea or a glass of wine, while listening to the grand piano. The main sitting room has comfortable informal seating for twelve arranged around a beautiful fireplace that is lit during the winter months. This spacious room, containing a variety of English books and games for all ages, is cloistered around the central courtyard. The Bou is on the first floor. Here you can relax and quietly read a book or two.

"Thank you for organizing a lovely, relaxing, awe-inspiring holiday, with special attention to detail. We are planning to use your service on our next trip."

S Mullen, December 2019

"My wife and I made a journey through Morocco during February. We decided that using trains and staying at riads would form a central part of our journey theme and are awfully glad we did. Our main advice and booking was aided by Andy and Dawn, Rediscover the World UK. We had a number of requests for guidance, all of which were met with patient, knowledgeable and practical responses. One city only offered very expensive options for a guide and we were left in no doubt that it was expensive and alternative solutions found. This is the mark of a good agent/adviser. One city had considerable restrictions on available accomodation owing to a music festival and still they managed to find something suitable. There was a lot of work involved in solving this, which we appreciate."

"Riad Les Trois Mages was outstanding in service, Complimentary tea & coffee where ever we wanted including cakes. They even ordered pizza for us. large breakfasts served anywhere. All other Riads were good but without these extras."

P Lending, UK, April, 2017

"Thank you for your help in organising this holiday, we had a fantastic time! The desert tour and camel trek was a real highlight, and the riad in Marrakech was perfect - beautiful rooms and helpful staff. All the logistics ran smoothly and the local guides were very good (although the stop in Tamagroute was not so interesting). Overall a great experience and I will contact you if we decide to visit any of the other destinations offered by RTW."

"Just a note to say thanks for helping to arrange our trip to Morocco. The Trois Mages was a real gem. All the transfers were seamless and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly use your services again, thanks again."

"Just to say a huge thank you to you all for arranging such an amazing holiday. The riad was beautiful and the staff all so kind. Our trip to the Sahara was fantastic and we were royally looked after - were the only couple at both camps so had very good care with our own personal team to look after us! The transfers, travel and activities all went seamlessly and we would thoroughly recommend you."
