About Riad Kniza
The Riad Kniza is an absolute gem of a riad and one of our favourites. The 18th century Riad Kniza is located close to one of the nine gates of the 12th century ramparts of Marrakech and only 15 minutes walk from the Koutoubia Mosque. The Riad Kniza is a real treasure in the heart of the city and is one of our most popular properties in the luxury selection. The riad is owned by Mohammed Bouskri, a real gentleman and a former tour guide of Marrakech who has shown many dignitaries around the city in his time including 4 US Presidents. Mr Bouskri will be more than delighted to share his deep knowledge of the city and country with guests of the riad. The riad itself is run by his son, educated partly in the US, who speaks many languages, including Hebrew, and makes you feel instantly at home. Mohammed's wife owns an antique shop in the city and there is evidence throughout the riad from the beautiful silver jewellery displayed in the lounge to the black and white prints on the staircase dating from the 1890's.
The riad renovation was a labour of love and the attention to detail is phenomenal. The stunning cedar woodwork on the ceilings and doors was hand carved by 18 craftsmen over a period of two years. The fabrics were handmade by the same lady who makes the curtains for the Royal Palace - look out for the cream and red curtains in the downstairs lounge; these were completely embroidered by hand and took 4 years alone to make. Looking down to the central courtyard from above you can appreciate the carvings around the top of the patio. These sayings, based on the Koran, were again initially sketched by hand and recreated in plasterwork.
Accommodation: There are 11 rooms and suites in total -
All the rooms and suites are equipped with satellite TV, air conditioning, bathroom with separate WC, safe, direct phone and Internet access.
Facilities: the staff at the riad are highly trained and motivated and ensure a personal service. You can enjoy excellent dining, lounges with magnificent fireplaces and traditional Moroccan furniture. Dinner can be arranged at the riad - highly recommended to try delicious home cooked Moroccan food. Meals can be served in one of the lounges or on the terrace with beautiful views towards the Atlas Mountains and the old Medina. Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property. Free private parking is possible on site.
The Riad Kniza has expanded into an adjoining building and now offers spa facilities (sauna, steam bath, massage rooms), a large dining room and a good sized swimming pool.
Transfer Time from Airport:
"The Riad Kniza, on your recommendation, was out of this world. I will definitely be returning with my kids. The service is one of the best I have experienced anywhere in the world."
"The riad surpassed all we could have wanted with excellent staff, food and service to rival anywhere. They booked our restaurants for us and got us some of the best tables in the house. A fab holiday and we will return again via your company."
"We had an amazing time, everything worked like clockwork, and, in particular, the Riad Kniza was just incredible."

"My husband and l had a fantastic holiday in Morocco. The Riad in Marrakech (Kniza) especially blew us away. The efficiency of transport links were extremely impressive - with us on the dot of arrangements. We were also very pleased with the way we were dealt with by the administration of Rediscover the world. Thank you so much."

"Our accommodations in Marrakech were superior, and the mountain trek to the Azzaden Trekking Lodge and back to the Kasbah du Toubkal was first-rate. In addition, all dealings with Rediscover the World UK were exceptional."

"Special mention for our final stay in Marrakech (not enough room on the form!!) at Riad Kniza. We have never stayed anywhere that we have been more welcome. Truly felt like our home and the staff were WONDERFUL! Genuinely sorry to leave and will definitely be back, Location excellent, service and food exemplary, and very good value for money. A little haven in the lunacy of this amazing city. Also Kasbah Ellouze - stunning location and brilliant staff. Felt very authentic. Landscape is dramatic and hugely photogenic. Desert trip amazing - we had the camp to ourselves so it felt very personal. Would have perhaps liked to stay an extra night as the dunes are quite breathtaking. Organisation completely hassle-free. Car hire (and Neureddine, the rep) very helpful. Driving pretty much without hitch apart from one bandit incident down south (we had a heads up from your info, so managed to avoid!!) Roads excellent, especially over the Atlas. A really fantastic trip, thank you"

"The Riad Kniza was really superb and service excellent; I will definitely go there again."
"We have just got back from our fabulous holiday in Morocco. Thank you very much, everything was perfect. Riad Kniza was luxurious and we were upgraded to a Junior Suite (Johara). It was lovely to meet the owner. We had another nice meal. The staff in all the hotels were really helpful and friendly. Everyone spoke English although, almost without exception, they were relieved when they realised we spoke French."
