This particular itinerary is a quite unique "Top to Bottom" journey along Morocco's incredibly beautiful Atlantic coast. The route includes travelling between Tangier and Agadir via Asilah, Rabat, Casablanca, El Jadida and Essaouira with the opportunity to travel inland at any time and even continue further south to the undiscovered coast south of Agadir, e.g. Mirleft. With our many years of experience putting together practical and interesting itineraries for our clients we would like to recommend this journey for you to make the most of your time in this fascinating country.

What makes this holiday special ?

We have great pleasure in offering you the opportunity to experience Morocco accompanied by one of our excellent team of English-speaking drivers.

Travelling with one of our friendly English-speaking drivers allows you to experience much more of the country and its people. Your driver will gladly discuss both your daily schedule and general matters about Morocco and the places you pass; he can arrange local guides or co-ordinate any itinerary of pre-booked sightseeing that we arrange with you beforehand. In addition to your driver's experience and knowledge during your holiday we have also driven extensively around Morocco and will be happy to share our experiences with you if you are at all unsure about your chosen route or any aspect of travelling with one of our drivers.

Your driver will drive any type of vehicle within their daily rate and this rate also includes their food and lodging.

Hotels are personal suggestions but there is usually a choice of styles and budget at each location. We are, of course, also able to tailor-make a holiday to suit your requirements for any or all of the following - UK departure airport, budget, hotel type/size, duration, activities, etc.

Highlights of the Coastal Odyssey Private Journey

  • TANGIER: Shining like a beacon between Europe and Africa, Tangier is an open and cosmopolitan town where all civilisations mix. Tangier - the very name evokes an air of mystery, of one-time shady dealings. Many years ago the city was divided between Britain, America, France, and Spain, an International zone within easy reach of Europe. From 1923 - 1956 Tangier was a playground for international jet setters, attracting authors, spies, artists and aristocrats alike.
  • RABAT: Rabat is the current capital of modern Morocco and has well designed boulevards which are a perfect setting for the culture and grandeur a state capital should offer. Sights include the Royal Palace, the unfinished mosque with its striking Hassan Tower, the necropolis at Chellah and the grand Mauosoleum of the Kings.
  • ESSAOUIRA: Essaouira's houses and shops in the medina are white-washed with blue doors and shutters; an expansive sandy beach is located next to the harbour and is shallow enough for safe bathing. Essaouira is a fascinating former Portuguese fishing port - the place to eat fresh fish, sit down at any stall in the harbour and feast yourself on the freshest and most varied fish BBQ you will ever encounter. Today, standing on the impressive battlements looking out over the line of cannons and on out to sea it is impossible not to think of the history this town has seen and the daily adventures of the local fishing boat crews.
  • AGADIR: Agadir is Morocco's premier resort; with its golden sandy beach sweeping for miles along the coast and lapped by the Atlantic it is the perfect holiday spot. There is a dazzling array of boutiques, international cuisine and excellent Moroccan restaurants making Agadir a very cosmopolitan place. Agadir is one of the world's most beautiful bays, it also has a marina which can receive several hundred pleasure boats. The coastal road allows you to stroll along more of the sea front, a popular place for a walk at any time of day, and offers a complete panorama of the whole bay.
  • SIDI IFNI: The town of Sidi Ifni is quite unique in this part of Morocco as, until 1969, it was a Spanish enclave and so has a very different but fascinating atmosphere and style. Much of the colonial heritage is, unfortunately, crumbling but there are signs of some new investment and an increasing choice of good places to eat.
  • RIADS: Many treasures, especially the now-famous riads are hidden away in Marrakech and other cities in Morocco, such as Fez and Essaouira. Riads are houses, built around a central courtyard patio, whose outside walls are entirely closed. They are often converted into guesthouses or restaurants and are a symbol of the Moroccan art of fine living. We recommend riads in our programme where the local staff are integral to the experience and all food and drink and many other materials involved with your stay and the building itself are all sourced from the local area.
